Beaver County Justice Courts

Beaver County has three active justice courts. Each one handles Class B and C misdemeanors, traffic infractions, small claims, and local ordinance violations within its territory. The Beaver Justice Court is the busiest of the three and serves the county seat and surrounding unincorporated areas. If your traffic citation lists a Beaver address or an unincorporated part of the county, your case is most likely in the Beaver Justice Court.

The Milford Justice Court covers the Milford city area. Its hours are more limited than the Beaver court, so plan ahead if you need to go in person. Milford court sits Tuesday through Thursday mornings and Thursday afternoons, plus Friday mornings. The Minersville Justice Court operates on an even more restricted schedule, with windows just a few hours per day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. If you are not sure which court holds your case, your citation will name the court where your case was filed.

The Fifth District Court in Beaver handles felony cases, Class A misdemeanors, civil matters, domestic relations, probate, and evictions. Most traffic violations do not reach this level, but appeals from justice court rulings go to the district court. Note that the Fifth District Court does not release adoption records, juvenile records, or sealed records to the public.

How to Search Beaver County Traffic Court Records

You can search Beaver County traffic court records online or in person. The two main online options are the free MyCase portal and the subscription-based XChange system. Both pull from the same Utah Courts database and cover cases filed since July 2011. For records before that date, you need to contact the court directly.

The MyCase portal is free. You can search by name or case number and see hearing dates, case status, and public documents filed in a case. No account is needed for a basic search. MyCase works for all three Beaver County justice courts and the Fifth District Court. It is available any time of day and runs on mobile devices as well as computers. If you need to find out whether a case is still open or a warrant has been issued, MyCase is the fastest first step.

The XChange system costs $30 per month or $240 per year. It gives access to expanded court records across all Utah courts, including Beaver County, going back to July 2011. Legal professionals and others who need regular access to court records tend to use XChange. Occasional users are usually better off with MyCase or a direct court visit. For in-person records access, you can go to any of the three justice courts during their open hours. Under Utah Code § 63G-2-201(1), you can inspect public records at no charge at the courthouse. Copies cost $0.25 per page.

Online fine payments for Beaver Justice Court cases go through the secureinstantpayments.com portal. You can also pay through the Utah Courts ePayment system. Have your citation number ready before you start either payment process. If you are not sure of the amount you owe, search your case first in MyCase or call the court.

Traffic Violations and Fines in Beaver County

Beaver County uses the standard Utah traffic fine schedule for most violations. Speeding is the most common traffic charge. Fines go up with how far over the limit you were driving. Going 1 to 10 mph over costs around $120. Speeds of 11 to 15 mph over run about $150. The $200 mark applies at 16 to 20 mph over, and fines climb to $270 for 21 to 25 mph over. Speeds of 26 to 30 mph over reach $370, and anything 31 mph or more over the limit starts at $470. These are base fines and can increase with court fees and surcharges.

Traffic violation records in Beaver County are public under GRAMA, Utah Code § 63G-2-103. That means anyone can request to view or copy these records. You do not have to be the person named in the case. The public can inspect records for free at the courthouse. Copies are $0.25 per page. If you want certified copies, ask the court clerk what extra steps apply.

Missing a court date in Beaver County can lead to a bench warrant. The court can issue a warrant for failure to appear. Once issued, a warrant stays active until you come in and resolve it. If you think you may have missed a date, check MyCase or call the court as soon as possible. Dealing with it right away is better than waiting. Courts in small counties tend to be strict about missed appearances because their dockets are small and each case matters.

Some Beaver County traffic cases may qualify for deferred prosecution. Deferred prosecution lets a driver complete certain steps to keep a violation off their record. CDL holders do not qualify for deferred prosecution in Utah. Check the deferred traffic prosecution page at utcourts.gov or ask the court clerk if your case might qualify. Not all violations are eligible, so do not assume deferral is available without asking first.

Misdemeanor traffic convictions may show up there as well.

Still, if you have a case with more at stake, such as a suspended license or a charge that could affect your job, getting legal advice before your hearing is worth the time.
